All Of It with Alison Stewart

What's On The Show

Tuesday:

  • A recent New York Times article explores how a new type of social club offers low-cost, low-pressure ways of interacting with others. New York Times reporter Christina Caron joins us to discuss her piece about how people are finding unique opportunities to make new friends and some of the groups she has come across.
  • The tile game Mah-Jongg has become incredibly popular among American women, spawning clubs, tournaments, and brands, and some have raised concerns about the Americanization and commercialization of the game. Atlantic staff writer Ashley Parker discusses mah-jongg’s recent rise in popularity, as well as her own ‘descent into Mah-Jongg’, which she detailed in a recent article.
  • Artist and author Christopher Myers has a new exhibition of stained glass and tapestries at the Brooklyn Public Library, ahead of his new children's book Night Ride. Myers discusses the exhibit, called ‘Unbound,’ which opens in the Grand Lobby of BPL's Central Branch on July 14.
  • [REBROADCAST FROM September 17, 2025] Grammy-award winning Canadian singer-songwriter Sarah McLachlan shares music from her latest album, Better Broken, the artist's first in 11 years. McLachlan joins for a Listening Party, and reflects on her career, including the founding of Lilith Fair.
  • [REBROADCAST FROM March 17, 2026] Melissa Auf der Maur played bass for two of the biggest bands of the 90's — The Smashing Pumpkins and Hole — and witnessed firsthand the explosion of alternative rock music of that era. She discusses her book, Even the Good Girls Will Cry: A 90's Rock Memoir which recounts her story, from her childhood in Montreal to being hand picked to join Hole just after the death of Kurt Cobain.
  • [REBROADCAST FROM April 24, 2026] The new documentary "Pretty Ugly: The Story of the Lunachicks" spotlights the groundbreaking New York City all female punk band, who worked together in the 1990s and early 2000s before breaking up, and then reuniting in 2021 for their first show in 17 years. Director Ilya Chaiken and Lunachicks band members Theo Kogan and Gina Volpe discuss the film.
