It’s hard to say exactly what Bodega is. A punk band, an art collective, a kind of running social commentary set to music – Bodega could be any or all of these. The band makes songs and films and live props for their shows that skewer all the familiar maladies of last-stage capitalism: things like rampant consumerism, digital misinformation and disinformation, etc, but they also take time out to sing about movie characters and their own home town of New York, a city made for doers. And whatever else Bodega is, they are doers. The band Bodega plays on Aug. 19 at Elsewhere.
