There’s a new musical venue in town. On Sept.3, The Cultural Center at St John’s presents its first concert at St John’s Lutheran Church in Greenpoint, and their inaugural performers are the members of ETHEL, the string quartet with the friendly name that for a quarter century has played newly written pieces, played with pop stars like Todd Rundgren, Thomas Dolby, and noise rocker Dan Friel (Parts & Labor, Upper Wilds) and basically exploded whatever expectations you might have for a string quartet. ETHEL plays the first ever concert at the Cultural Center at St. John’s in Greenpoint on Sept.3.
