Tibetan singer Yungchen Lhamo has had a remarkable career since leaving Tibet in 1989. She’s recorded with Peter Gabriel, sung with Natalie Merchant, Bono, and others, and toured the world singing traditional Buddhist prayers and her own songs. Now living in upstate New York, Lhamo has founded the One Drop of Kindness Foundation, which supports humanitarian projects in various parts of the world. One Drop of Kindness is also the name of her most recent album. Yungchen Lhamo plays on Oct. 17 at the historic La MaMa theater.
