Marc Anthony Thompson released a couple of albums under his own name in the 80s, but in 1998, he began making music as Chocolate Genius. His soulful vocals and often experimental R&B arrangements began attracting the attention of some of New York’s leading downtown musicians, and so Thompson expanded Chocolate Genius from a solo project to a collective one, now called Chocolate Genius Incorporated. Marc Anthony Thompson and friends offer a retrospective of 30 years of music as Chocolate Genius Incorporated at Joe’s Pub on Oct. 13-14.
