Jake Shimabukuro at Sony Hall

Aug. 21. 7PM. $48.60+up

In 2006, Jake Shimabukuro became one of YouTube’s first viral hits. And he didn’t know anything about it. Jake grew up in Hawaii playing the ukulele, and his virtuosic take on the Beatles’ tune “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” was posted on YouTube and jaws hit the floor. Since then Shimabukuro has played with everyone from the late Jimmy Buffett to cellist Yo-Yo Ma, but it’s his solo ukulele playing that continues to astonish audiences. His sets include original works, traditional Hawaiian songs, and some of the most unexpected covers you’ll ever hear - perhaps even Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody.” Jake Shimabukuro plays on Aug. 21 at Sony Hall.
