NYC Council holds an oversight hearing on Mamdani's controversial pied e terre tax rollout

WNYC News | Aug 18

New Yorkers and elected officials got a chance to ask their questions about the city’s new pied-a-terre tax and how the rollout was handled. But asking didn’t mean answers in this case. The Mamdani administration decided not to send any city officials to the hearing because of a pending lawsuit.

Councilmember Gale Brewer, who represents the 6th district on the Upper West Side, read testimony from the Mayor's Finance Department at today's city council oversight hearing on the pied-a-terre tax. She joined WNYC's Sean Carlson and WNYC's Elizabeth Kim to talk more about it.
