In Season: honey

WNYC News | 8 hours ago

Honey is seen as an incredible phenomenon of nature because of the teamwork it takes bees to make it, its antibacterial properties and an endless shelf life. Because bees produce way more honey than they have use for, humans get to enjoy it too.

Amelia Tarpey is the Program and Publicity Manager for GrowNYC Greenmarkets. She said there are beekeepers from all over our region selling local honey at market, including a beekeeper with beehives all over the city producing neighborhood-specific honey.

Honey is going for $7 to $10 per 8 ounce.
