Ambassador Kabanda

The NYPR Archive Collections | Jan 1, 2000

The Overseas Press Club presents Bernard Buck, sitting in for Seymour N. Siegel, moderating a panel of journalists with questions for Celestin Kabanda, Permanent Representative from Rwanda to the United Nations, and Ambassador to Washington and Ottawa.

The panel includes:

Spyridon Granitsas, Cyprus Broadcasting
Lowell Fink [?], WNYC News
Peter McEvoy, political news writer

Much of the talk focuses on a description of the fairly new republic, including its peoples and its relations with neighbors, with the United Nations and worldwide. The panel also tackles other issues in African nations such as Biafra, Rhodesia, and Namibia. African unity is discussed, as well as how the United States might help new African nations. Vietnam is also discussed; Ambassador Kabanda does not think the UN can do anything about it.

Produced by Sylvia [Sirota] Taylor and directed by John Baird.
