Betty Parsons
The NYPR Archive Collections | Jan 1, 2000
Betty Parsons talks with Mimi Poser about her life and work as an influential gallery owner in the art world. She talks about the initial resistance by the public and art critics to the abstract works that she presented. She also talks about working on one-man rather than group shows with the artists Jackson Pollock, Barnett Newman, Mark Rothko, and others. Poser also gets Parsons to talk about her early career as an artist, her work in Europe, and two dinners with Constantin Brâncuși as well as meeting with Alberto Giacometti.
