In Honor of Constantin Brancusi / Poser, Mimi; Svendsen, Louise Averill; Geist, Sidney

The NYPR Archive Collections | Jan 1, 2000

The 100th anniversary of the birth of Constantin Brancusi is marked with discussion between Sydney Geist, Louise Averill Svendsen and host Mimi Poser about the great sculptor. Geist begins by going over Brancusi's early life, education and training. This is followed by the story of his leaving Romania enroute to Paris in the fall and winter of 1903-1904. His first job in Paris was washing dishes and he soon met other Romanian expatriots there. His work Portrait of George and other works are discussed.
