La Meri joins Walter Terry on Invitation to Dance to discuss global sources of inspiration for the western Choreographer. As a lecturer at Jacob's Pillow, she instructed students to understand the cultural motivation behind movement rather than mere imitation, to probe "within techniques" when incorporating the style in western dance. For example, she describes her use of hand positions in Hindu Mudras in American spiritual music performance. They also discuss the significance of the position of the feet, face, neck, and spine in Japanese and Spanish dance.
